People converged in cities across Louisiana to demonstrate their disgust, anger, and sadness at the start of Bush's war. About 700 people gathered in front of the Federal Building in New Orleans before marching to Jackson Square. Similar actions took place in Baton Rouge and Shreveport in conjunction with dramatic protests across the world, such as the shutting down of San Francisco.

March 15: Largest Anti-War Protest Yet in New Orleans
Over 1000 people rallied against a preemptive US attack, in a demonstration the Times-Picayune wrote "may be N.O.'s largest in decades." Marching from Armstrong Park to Jackson Square, protestors blocked traffic on Rampart, Canal, St. Peters and Decatur. Protestors were allied with others in cities across the world and the nation, including over 45,000 thousand in Washington DC and 80,000 in San Francisco. There was a candlelight vigil from 7pm-8pm the next night, March 16, in Jackson Square.

Feb 15 - New Orleans: Louisiana Joins World in Denouncing War Plans
Approximately 700-1200 people came together in New Orleans on Feb 15 to join with millions of other protestors in over 600 cities across the world, all denouncing Bush's plan for a preemptive war on the people of Iraq. The march in New Orleans featured a diverse group of people, including local flavor such as a sign reading, "Make Mardi Gras Not War" and people sipping beer from to-go cups, all adding to an upbeat take back the streets experience. On Saturday Nov 23 hundreds of people from across Louisiana gathered in New Orleans to protest a possible US war on Iraq's citizens. Several hundred people from Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Shreveport, and New Orleans, gathered at Congo Square in New Orleans at noon before marching along Rampart and Canal streets to Jackson Square for a peace rally. Protestors filled the road, blocking traffic for blocks and eliciting a mostly positive response from passerbys.
