New Orleans
NOLA C3: NOLA Conscience, Concern, and Commitment
C3 formed as a response to the military escalation after Sept.11, feeling a military response attacking Afghanistan after the Sept. 11th attack was wrong. C3 is currently involved in educating people about all the issues around the militarization of our country's economy, the impending (but hopefully avoidable) attack on Iraq, and the Bush Administration's use of the USA PATRIOT Act to attack civil liberties, among other issues. C3 is also tying the ethnic/class cleansing in Jackson Square to the current political mood and agenda the Bush administration is promoting.

Louisiana Women in Black (LWIB)
Part of an international network of women opposed to war & militarism, LWIB is a means of mobilization and a formula for action: "Our silence is visible. We invite women to stand with us, reflect about themselves and women who have been raped, tortured or killed in concentration camps, women who have disappeared, whose loved ones have disappeared or have been killed, whose homes have been demolished. We wear black as a symbol of sorrow for all victims of war, for the destruction of people, nature and the fabric of life, converting women's traditional passive mourning for the dead in war into a powerful refusal of the logic of war." Go to the WIB New York website for more info about the history of Women In Black around the world.
If you know of another group in Louisiana that is organizing against the war, please email this information to us at andylovesbikes@yahoo.com
